Police believe the 4-door Dodge crashed into a cement barrier Friday night, which sent the vehicle into the river. The vehicle was overturned onto its roof, floating on top of the river for 13 hours before the baby was rescued. Afterwards the baby, in critical condition, was flown by helicopter to Salt Lake City to a hospital to be treated.
The 25-year-old mother, driving the vehicle, was pronounced dead in the driver’s seat. Although names are not being released, family members have said she was driving from a family member’s home in Salem to Springville.
