One young robot's struggle to stay alive in a universe where all androids have been outlawed and bounty hunters lurk on every planet. A rip-roaring and heart-felt cosmic odyssey that pits humanity against machine, and world against world, to create a sprawling space opera from the creators of Trillium, Sweet Tooth, and Little Gotham.
AzM Review: From the cover artwork the first impression I got from Jeff Lemire and Dustin Nguyen's new comic book "Descender" was that it reminded me of Steven SpielbergSci-Fi epic A.I. and this new book has some similarities but it stands on its own as a new and exciting Sci-Fi story. I bought a hard copy of Descender #1 Original cover at Coliseum Of Comics in Kissimmee, Florida and without knowing much what this comic book was all about, my decision was based on my respect for Lemire's storytelling and the impressive art work by Nguyen. Spoilers Alert!
In this first issue we are introduced to planet Niyrata a technological and cultural hub of a group of 9 core planets known as the "The United Galactic Council"
Doctor Jin Quon a Science Liaison for the U.G.C. is the first character introduced in the story and he seems to be as important of character as the self aware android TIM-21 The two characters seem to be connect and maybe even responsible for a huge cosmic event that cost the lives of billions of citizens across the 9 planets of the U.G.C. (United Galactic Council) The story and events that happen in Descender #1 have me hooked into this book, I'm a big fan of Sci-Fi and this story has everything I like robots, aliens, spaceships and a well crafted world these characters live in. I highly recommend any Sci-Fi fan to buy this comic while supplies last I think this is a hit book and the first print issues will probably sell out soon and its original value will go up in the collectors market. I give this book a 5 star rating across the board from the story, art, cover, design and a friendly $2.99 price tag. Buy it, read it, bag it and file into your long box!
